The Auburn MPA program focuses on five core competencies essential for effective public service. The core competencies are listed below:

1. To lead and manage in public governance

2. To participate in and contribute to the policy process

3. To analyze, synthesize, think critically, solve problems and make decisions

4. To articulate and apply a public service perspective

5. To communicate and interact productively with a diverse and changing workforce and citizenry.

During my academic trail as a student in the Auburn MPA program.The class assignments, internships and capstone projects were focused on the above mentioned core competencies which gave me a realization of the public service scenario in the United states. This program also made me a competitive candidate for a strong career role in my desired area of local government administration and enabled me to effectively exhibit effective public service.
