Competency 3

​

       The third competency in AU MPA Program is the AU MPA program is “To analyze synthesize, think critically, solve problems and make decisions”. This competency aligns with the mission statement of the Auburn MPA program of making the students generalist with critical thinking and analyzing capabilities and quality decision making processes. The artifacts chosen for this competency is Organizational change assessment from the organizational theory coursework and budget analysis project from public budgeting coursework

 

Organizational change assessment

       The organizational change assessment discusses in detail about the strength and weaknesses of an organization analyzing every aspect of the organization and critically commenting on the same. The organization chosen in this artifact is the City of Auburn. In this assessment, one can learn about the various aspects of the organization in terms of strengths and weaknesses, the analyzing skill acquired through this artifact helps contribute towards knowing the do’s and don’ts of the organization. Budget analysis Project

        The second artifact chosen for this competency is the budget analysis project done as the final project for the public budgeting coursework. In this project revenue and expenditures of a specific commodity available in a county is given to balance. This project enables to think in par with a financial officer in county.
